Sara Braun, LICSW

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

she/her

I love working with teenagers and young adults. I admire the courage and struggle that it takes to become an adult today. I have a great deal of experience with all the issues that young people face: academic stress, friendship issues, conflicts with parents, college and career decisions, struggles with identity, body image issues, drinking/getting high to cope, family alcoholism, divorce, loss, loneliness, adoption issues, and general adolescent moodiness.

I also provide consultation and support for parents who are struggling with raising teenagers or “launching” a young adult, and I enjoy working with couples as well. I am an experienced therapist with expertise in individual, couples, and group therapy. I did my graduate work at Columbia University in New York. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked with adolescents and young adults in a variety of community-based settings including as a Juvenile Justice Program Director; an LGBTQI+ Youth Program Coordinator; a Middle and High School Social Worker; and a Diversity and Anti-Racism Educator. I have taught Social Work at the College and Graduate School levels for many years. I am a lifelong advocate for racial and social justice.
