Skip Brenny, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

he/him

I spent 15 rewarding but unfulfilling years in corporate America. Upon leaving Target Corporation, I embarked on a 4-year travel sabbatical with hopes to find myself and fulfilling work. On this sabbatical I developed a profound appreciation for relationship, universal connection, and human consciousness. This lead me to graduate school, and licensure in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. I understand the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences and I’m trauma-informed.

As a gay man, my identity and journey offers insight into privilege and oppression. I have deep empathy for anyone who has felt othered or been impacted by oppression and injustice. I also pause to understand my own privilege, and frequently remind myself that the irony of privilege is that it's invisible to those who have it. I bring a uniquely personal, fresh, and informal approach to working with clients.

My experiential style is fed using a blend of theories and approaches; I am not afraid to be blunt and I always lead from the heart. I leverage my own personal experience with various types of unconventional, holistic healing and will offer guidance and referrals anytime appropriate. Most importantly, I believe humor and laughter are essential parts of healing, and this philosophy is woven into how I practice.
